On Setting Boundaries

November 2, 2013 | Comments Off on On Setting Boundaries

I’ve been thinking lately about boundaries. Specifically, I’ve been thinking about my struggle with recognizing boundaries, and my seemingly complete ineptitude at setting them! I’m taking an e-course by Brené Brown, and this week she asked us to think of a boundary mantra. I’ve decided mine is *Consider Yourself*. I am contemplating adding “first” to that mantra, but it sounds so… selfish. *Consider yourself first* Does that sound selfish, or self-serving? Are those healthy things? I’m really unsure. I am so used to considering others- how they think, feel, and what they might say and do, mainly to me, if I say no.

I obviously have a lot to learn about boundaries, which I’m sure are not all-in or all-out sort of things.

Consider Yourself First? We’ll see.
