Slow Down, Be Present
At any given moment on any random day, you can find me flighting about like a bee in a bush. I’m tending to tasks in a frantic way, fighting for focus, racing myself. My hands are in flour, in laundry, in motion, and all the while my mind is churning. Most of my daily activities are so monotonous that I do them on auto-pilot, with my brain in another place, usually making lists.
Today I’ve been on the “sick-couch” with alternating chills and fever, an earache, and a sore throat. I’m lucky to have a loving family tending to me, and the down time has caused me to perhaps be more present than I usually am.
I don’t want it to take illness for me to slow down and be present. I want to engage more in my daily life, notice the small things, even the monotonous. Taking note of that today.
*This month I’m participating in a writing prompt project, which you can find here- http://writealm.com/november-prompt-a-day/
