Quiet Beauty

November 16, 2013 | 6 Comments

There is a quiet beauty in these mountain hikes. A sense of awe and wonder. A deep knowing of being among Ancients. A profound respect for the nature around me. We’re interconnected, interdependent. I breathe out, the trees breathe in. I feel grounded as I see mountains stretched high. Shadows seep across the ground in mystical ways. I feel un-alone. Utterly un-alone. When alone. In these places. Standing silent within these arms of Earth.

  1. Wonderful. We were at the seaside today looking for fossils. When I see the outline of these amazing creatures locked in stone I realise how old the earth truly is! It’s a great way to recapture youth!! 🙂

Oh that’s fabulous! We have a hiking spot nearby where there are dinosaur footprints. One of my favorite photos is when my son put his hand right in the middle of a print. Such a link to the past, it almost seems unreal. Thank you for reading and commenting, Lisa!

  2. I feel the same communion with Nature that you do – and through your beautiful words, it always takes me right there with you. You truly have a gift!

  3. the thing i most miss about living in new mexico is the ability to get out and hike. i do love the shadows in that photo and the way you wove them into your writing.
