Family Matters

November 27, 2013 | 1 Comment

Stretching our arms, our legs, our minds
Growing together, though two of us are
Older and stunned by the wisdom of those
Younger and bright-as-combusting-stars
Aware of shared space, limits, fears
Finding boundaries, and respecting intersections of such-so
Living is more peaceful and fluid and whole
Intentions set and revisited often and again, and again we are
Trying our best, with eight hands, eight feet, four brains, four hearts
Existing on a common frequency
Meet in the middle, calm words, reflecting white-hot points of view
Conflict resolved with caution, hoping deliberately not to harm
Our family matters in all we do
In learning, playing, in those-are-the-saming
Family matters because individuals matter
Autonomous, yet interconnected, interdependent
There are shoulders to lean on, hands to hold, kindness to pass between
Our greatest work, building a life out of four
Out for the personal peace
And the common good
