Morning Ritual - A Writing Poem by

Start here
A mug from Mama reminds me to breathe
An old leather journal makes a sturdy home
Pages edged in gold whisper “treasure within”
Satin ribbon bookmark to stroke
Sometimes prompts, sometimes ponderings
Self-reflection, challenging circumstances
Words that jump and play, and those that bleed sticky red
All here
All now
A sip of coffee, foaming from fat
Warmth travels lip to gut, to help stir the words there
They bubble up, spill out and over
The conduit- my pink pen
The coffee- bulletproof
The writing- the very breath of me
The time- morning’s light
The ritual- my very life-beat

Me too. Thank you. I don’t know how I was surviving without writing every single day. Doing so spreads the hard emotions out, makes them more manageable. Thank you for reading! πŸ˜€

  2. I love this morning wake up sort of poem. πŸ™‚

btw, careful your coffee doesn’t spill. I wanted to push it back on the sill. hahaha
