Toast Yourself

Overly so

You never know when these moods will hit
Or why they have such horrid timing
Understand this, though
Reasoning may seem powerless to change this current space
So settle into feelings, and let them speak
Expect to learn a few things
Let the waves toss you for a bit
Fully aware that impermanence reigns

*It’s been a pleasure to write with Amanda and others during December. I invite you to join us in January. Write Alm prompts are found here-

  1. Impermanence is something I struggle with. These words written here make me wish I could extend a proper tight hug to you. Sending thoughts of hope for gentle times for you.

Thank you, Cyn. Yes, I struggle with negative feelings of permanence, and although knowing that all things always change, I still struggle to pull myself out of these moods and beliefs. XO

  2. Sending hugs. I understand these moods very well and like you said their timing is always at the worst times. I’m slowly learning to not fight them when they strike but instead sit with them and let them work their way out. Easier said then done though.

Thank you, Jen. Yes, there’s really no point in trying to outrun these things. It only seems to prolong the feeling. Wishing you a happy new year. <3
