A Room Of One’s Own

February 22, 2014 | 10 Comments

Settled in a nest of blankets
Each with sentimental meaning
Most worn clean through

Headphones on
A face cocked to the side
As troubadours strum

Curtains open
Sun reaching out
As it lulls toward the West

Fingers on a keyboard
Brow furrowed
I seek words to convey deep emotion

I fall short
The correction for this condition
A crowbar to the chest

Or perhaps less violent way
To expose this bleeding heart
Perpetual puzzle

  1. Sometimes it just gets stuck in there Angie, no crowbar needed though…

    Just beautiful xx

I’m so glad you liked this. πŸ˜€ That hyperbole of the crowbar explains my frustration of stuck emotion. Would that it could just burst out as light from fingers and toes!

  2. I thought that’s what the crowbar represented and even though the emotion you wanted to get out got stuck, at least you wrote about it not happening, and that’s good in itself xx

Thank you. I’m having a hard time getting the words to match emotions lately. But you’re right. I’m writing anyway, and that’s good!
