Trusting Myself to Answer Creative Calls

November 2, 2015 | 4 Comments

I started NaNoWriMo yesterday. National Novel Writing Month takes place every November. The challenge is to write a story in 30 days- precisely, a 50,000 word novel! I signed up last year and quit before I wrote my first word. I just felt like I could not do it. And you know what? I feel that way this year too! I feel like I can’t write 50,000 words in November. I feel silly for even trying! But I’m trying. I’ve written 2000 words so far.

If I waited until I felt sure I could do something, I’d miss many opportunities to fail, learn, and grow. I want to live a full, adventurous life, so I’m answering this creative call.

Last year I started NaNoWriMo and promptly quit. The world kept spinning. This year I’d like to reach November 30th with a 50,000 word count. I’ll work hard, knowing if I fail, I fail forward.

When it comes to new opportunities, I am trusting myself enough to commit, enough to create.

Signing off today with my favorite writing quote-
