Fallen – The Beauty Of Autumn

tree at Red Rocks

If given a chance
I’d lie under this tree
Which lives beside a road
That stretches out
Winding and weaving
Around and under
Red Rock monoliths and arches

autumn leaves at red rocks

With spine on asphalt
And eyes wide open
I’d look up into treasure
Waiting until each and every
Paper coin had fallen
Leaving their home limbs
To cover my own

Essence Of Summer

A lovely hike in the woods today with my Leading Man. We heard thunder in the distance upon hitting the trail, so decided to not travel far. We tramped along an even path and took our time photographing flowers.

At times as I leaned in close with my small camera set to macro, pollinators would buzz upon the scene, settling themselves in for a close-up.… Continue reading

Seeking Solace

To the right of river
And the left of stream
Above pain’s sliver
Below life’s dream

Trek a hillside
Spy a site
Seek space dappled
In nature’s light

Among tall things
Feeling quite small
You’ll find me seeking
The gist of it all

This morning I’m reaching for trust- in processes, and in those around me. And maybe a little trust in myself, too.… Continue reading

Nothin’ But Blue Skies

A passage from my never-left-behind Moleskine journal-

Friday, March 28th, 2014

Headed to Kansas on Highway 70. Almost to Limon, CO. Blue sky day. 75 mph, and the hums and whistles of road-trippin. It’s been so long since we did this. 3 years since the 4 of us left Colorado to go somewhere together.

Turn To The Sunlight

When I wake down instead of up
And slip my feet into melancholy, familiar
As I brew something a little stronger than contempt
And break my fast on not enough
When I can’t see forward
Yet I’m scared to look back
And being here is too much for now
I head for the hills, and turn to the sunlight
