June 29th. That’s the last time I posted here. I feel sad about that. I am self-compassionate about that. My attention’s been elsewhere…

I started a small business! I’m baking allergen-free treats and selling them locally!

It’s been… challenging.

Walking into this vulnerable space has triggered shame feelings. I’ve been hearing you’re not good enough!Continue reading

The Risks Of and Reasons For Making Vulnerable Requests

The Risks Of and Reasons For Making Vulnerable Requests by SoAngieWrites.com #courage #vulnerability

Yesterday was World CP Day, a yearly event where people speak up to raise awareness and understanding of Cerebral Palsy, with a focus on equal rights, access, and opportunities. My youngest son was diagnosed with CP before his first birthday. On World CP Day, I took to Twitter with a series of tweets, informative links, and a request-

Empowerment in Vulnerability

Empowerment in Vulnerability by SoAngieWrites.com #vulnerability #courage #spoonie #selfworth

It’s sometimes scary to admit our feelings and needs, but doing so allows us to live empowered lives. If we try to keep everything in, we may miss chances for connection and healing. We may miss out on help and support.

Sometimes the risk of sharing doesn’t pay off. Sometimes people can’t meet us where we are.… Continue reading

Tending to the Pain of Comparison, Scarcity, and Shame

Injecting humor into the week’s lousy start via Snapchat

Last week started out kinda crappy. I was in a lot of physical pain and was making brave choices about my health care. Unfortunately, my doctor’s office was not returning calls about the medication my physical therapist wanted me on. The pain plus the frustration of provider run-around wore me down.… Continue reading

Courage is Contagious! The Value of Shared Humanity

Courage is Contagious! The Value of Shared Humanity by soangiewrites.com #courage #sharedhumanity #vulnerability #authenticity #resilience

This week I was in contact with several people facing difficult times. Awful appointments, trying therapies, and painful procedures. Cringe-worthy conversations, angst-filled anticipation, and some things left unresolved. Whew. Makes me tense just typing all of that. The end of July demanded our resilience, and damn, don’t you just want to rest?… Continue reading

Now, We Cope

Now, We Cope - A Resilience poem by SoAngieWrites.com

Struggling to hold on
Not sure where the strength comes from

A humble collaboration of reaching out
And seeking within- curtsy from the load

Every manner of pain, born by every bone
Encased in skin- clasp pearls and heart

There are times of healing and moving
Recovery seems promised and near

There are times of clinging
Until nails un-bed and knees hit dirt

These are the times we bear
What we cannot bear

Now, we cope
